Tash & Marc: Blending Soft Neutrals with Scottish Roots

On a day where the rain cleared at the perfect moment to grant a wonderful, sunny afternoon, Tash and Marc said “I do”.
Their celebration was a flawless blend of cottage core charm, whimsical elements, and a touch of sophistication that perfectly matched the rustic beauty of the venue. Their journey together began back in 2016, leading to a memorable first date at Johnstone Park, Geelong. Years later, in December 2024, Marc pulled off a masterfully coordinated surprise proposal beneath the Eiffel Tower in France, complete with some clumsy metro platform teamwork from Tash’s mum, Michelle, to sneak the ring through security undetected.
A Natural, Whimsical Aesthetic
The inspiration for the day was deeply personal. Tash and Marc love all things cottage core, and Rocklea Farm provided the ultimate canvas for their vision.
The built-in rustic furniture, vintage lounges, and overall aesthetic felt like them. The versatile spaces allowed the couple to seamlessly transition their plans when the unpredictable weather kept them on edge. While they originally planned to marry down at the 600-year-old river red gum tree, they easily pivoted to the gorgeous garden marquee. With the natural light, synthetic grass, and massive timber barn doors serving as a backdrop, it became the perfect, intimate indoor-outdoor alternative. For their casual celebration, they chose a cocktail-style layout that allowed everyone casually enjoy the moment .
Serenades and Special Traditions
Music and family heritage played a starring role in Tash and Marc’s narrative. Bringing Tash’s Scottish heritage to life in an interactive way, live musicians beautifully bookended the ceremony. Tash walked down the aisle to the spirited notes of “Ruffian’s Rant” (an 18th-century Scottish fiddle tune also known as
“Roy’s Wife”). For their grand reception entry, the newlyweds were spectacularly serenaded by a full band of Scottish pipes and drums. Later in the evening, they slowed things down to the timeless sounds of Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon” for their first dance. Stepping away from rigid protocols, the couple chose to forgo typical wedding traditions in favor of one deeply meaningful surprise. During the ceremony, they unexpectedly called up their mothers to be the official witnesses for the signing of the registry, a magical moment that beautifully honored the two most important role models in their lives.
A Feast of Roaming Delights
One of the highlights of planning a Rocklea Farm wedding is the absolute freedom to select custom catering choices that match your budget and vibe. Tash and Marc opted for a relaxed, crowd-pleasing menu featuring a grazing table, roaming canapes, and hot woodfired pizzas straight from a food truck.
Though Tash admits she was far too excited to taste what was on offer, Marc and the guests spent the night. and the following weeks, raving about the divine food and the lovely, attentive staff serving it. For dessert, a beautiful wedding cake took center stage alongside sweet gelatos.
Cruising Through the Planning Journey
Even though Rocklea Farm is celebrated as a premier DIY venue, couples are supported every single step of the way. Tash and Marc enjoyed a wonderfully stress-free 1.5-year planning journey, largely due to the consistent communication and structured planning meetings with the team .
From answering a thousand minor questions via email to the on-day coordinators seamlessly executing the venue setup and styling personal decor items, Tash felt all her worries instantly melt away the moment she arrived.
Tash & Marc’s Words of Wisdom: “Start early! Lock in your big things first and you can worry about the finer details later. Remember to enjoy the planning process, and know that Rocklea will absolutely answer all 1000 of your questions, no matter how small! Sometimes less is more, try not to overfill your day with activities because once the day starts, you will just want to be present with those around you.”
