Nigel & Matt’s Casually Personal Celebration: A Journey Of Connection, Community, And Joy

On a day bathed in the golden light of an incredible Stonehaven sunset, Nigel and Matt said “I do”, surrounded by a perfect blend of timeless elegance and high-energy fun.
Their celebration was a true reflection of their journey – from meeting on a date at Pink Fish wine bar back in the day, to a romantic night away in Melbourne. After dinner and a show, the question was popped over a glass of bubbles and hotel robes, resulting in a resounding and long overdue “yes!”.
A Natural Aesthetic With a Personal Twist

The inspiration for the day was to keep it as casual and deeply personal as possible. Nigel and Matt wanted a look that was natural and neutral so as to not detract from the beauty of the venue. They wove their personalities into the day by penning a small, personal card for every guest, each featuring a unique photo, which created a lovely buzz throughout the evening.

The versatile spaces at Rocklea Farm provided the perfect canvas for this vision, allowing the couple to relax and enjoy the special moments while the team managed the details.
For their Saturday celebration in March 2026, they chose a cocktail-style wedding that hosted approximately 105 guests + 1 dog (Billie, the couples dog for their ceremony).
Emotive Moments and Meaningful Traditions
For Nigel and Matt, the highlight of the day was the absolute joy of seeing the faces of their guests as they walked toward the ceremony from behind the big tree. Music played a starring role in their narrative, with Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” setting the tone for the ceremony, while the couple exited to the soulful sounds of Natalie Cole’s “This Will Be an Everlasting Love”.
The celebration also included the beautiful tradition of a ring warming. Their rings were handed from guest to guest in a wooden box before the ceremony, allowing everyone to share a moment of best wishes and wisdom. The ceremony was officiated by the talented Jessie Belle, who ensured the start of their next big adventure was handled with heart.

Cocktail Style Dishes & Drinks
One of the best parts of a Rocklea wedding is the flexible catering. You aren’t stuck with one specific menu; you have the freedom to choose a range of caterers that fit your style. Nigel and Matt opted for a perfect trifecta of relaxed dining.
The Tipsy Colt provided a stunning grazing table and canapes to kick things off, followed by woodfired pizzas served from their food truck. The feedback was a dream – everything was beautifully taken care of, allowing the couple to actually relax and enjoy the meal! To keep the evening flowing, The Tipsy Colt also managed the beverage service, with complimentary tea and coffee available for guests later in the night from Rocklea Farm.
Planning Without the Stress
Even though we are a DIY-friendly venue, we help you all along your planning journey. Nigel and Matt were blown away by the “stella” care provided by the Rocklea team, noting that the staff were busy making sure the night ran like clockwork. They appreciated that the team took care of everything behind the scenes, allowing them to focus entirely on the people they invited.
We easily coordinated with the couple’s floral team from Posie Place, who provided arrangements at the big tree and scattered throughout the venue. These natural touches helped bring Nigel and Matt’s neutral and personal aesthetic to life.
Nigel & Matt’s Words of Wisdom:
“The people you invite make the day! You won’t even notice the signage, the guest book or all the other small details.
Enjoy every moment of it; it was the most incredible day of our lives to date. The venue is stunning and we wouldn’t change a thing.
Support from the team is key to being able to relax!”
