Isabelle & Jack: A Reconnection to Wedding Reception

After navigating the complexities of long distance and two interstate moves, Jack and Isabelle finally tied the knot in a celebration that perfectly captured their fun-loving and laid-back nature.
Their story technically began in high school, where they ran in similar circles but never quite crossed paths. It wasn’t until a few years later, after Isabelle had moved interstate and the world was locked down during Covid, that the pair truly connected online. Feelings quickly blossomed, and the moment the borders opened, Jack flew down to meet her. They’ve been inseparable ever since, eventually settling in Geelong. When it came time to pop the question, Jack enlisted the help of Isabelle’s sister to set up a breathtaking evening picnic on the beach in Anglesea, complete with fairy lights, music, and a perfect proposal.
A Rustic, Farm-Style Aesthetic
Isabelle had always dreamed of a beautiful, rustic farm-style wedding with an outdoor ceremony. Rocklea Farm provided the perfect canvas for this vision, and the moment they saw the magnificent 600-year-old river red gum tree, they were completely sold.
With a clear vision for their DIY decor, they leaned on the Rocklea Farm team to bring their dream to life. The team’s eye for design and expert guidance ensured the picturesque farm setting was styled flawlessly, allowing the couple to relax and soak in the atmosphere.
Spontaneous Moments and Special Traditions
Sometimes, the moments that don’t go exactly to plan end up being the most memorable. Following their photos, Jack and Isabelle were enjoying a quiet moment in the bridal suite while Glen arranged their reception entrance. Suddenly, their MC—a cousin—announced them to the room a little too early! Glen yelled, “Quick, we have to run!” The newlyweds sprinted from the bridal suite, dashed along the side of the barn, and burst through the beautiful timber doors right on cue to a roaring crowd! It was an unplanned, silly, and entirely joyful moment that stood out as the highlight of their day.
When it was time to hit the dance floor, they bypassed standard formalities for a cherished family tradition. The party officially kicked off to the tune of “Come on Eileen,” featuring a funny dance by the bride’s 80-year-old grandfather.
A Feast of Roaming Delights
Keeping the energy high and the vibe relaxed, Jack and Isabelle opted for a fun, cocktail-style menu. They kicked off cocktail hour with a crowd-pleasing and incredibly fun choice: Subway!
As the evening progressed, the culinary stars of the show took over. Guests raved about the roaming halloumi and steak bite entrees from Pete’s Pizza, which were an absolute hit. For the main meals, Pete’s Pizza served up their always-delicious hot wood-fire pizzas, perfectly rounding out the night with sweet dessert pizzas to match.
Cruising Through the Planning Journey
Jack and Isabelle navigated their DIY wedding journey with ease, crediting the venue’s organized approach for keeping their stress levels low. They loved having access to the venue’s dedicated client portal. Being able to log in and reference the floor plans, event plans, and PDF specs for included furniture made visualizing and organizing their day an absolute breeze.
The couple’s final verdict? The Rocklea team and venue were undoubtedly the right choice. Against all the typical logistics of life and event planning, their day went ahead without a single hitch, or at least none that registered, thanks to Dave, Glen, and the incredible team.
Jack & Isabelle’s Words of Wisdom:
“Be resolved that things will go wrong, so that when they inevitably do it won’t be an issue—or if they magically don’t, it’ll be a lovely surprise.”
