Kate & Jace’s Summer Cocktail Wedding: The Classic Summer Geelong Wedding Venue

KATE & JACE
Kate and Jace have a history that began back in 2017 while Kate was working at a bar. Jace and a mate spent a Thursday night dancing around the bar and refusing to leave, which sparked a connection that grew organically from there. After Kate taught Jace how to snowboard early in their relationship, it became a shared passion, leading Jace to pop the question at the top of Mount Hotham.
When it came time to plan the wedding, they knew they wanted something casual and fun, focusing on good music, food, and plenty of drinks. They found their perfect match right here at Rocklea Farm on our 80-acre farm in Stonehaven, just a short 15-minute drive from Geelong.
A Casual Country Celebration
The couple was all
about an atmosphere that was relaxed and celebratory. Our venue served as the perfect backdrop because of its versatile spaces that let couples design their special day, their way. For their January celebration, Kate and Jace welcomed 115 guests for a beautiful summer cocktail-style wedding with lawn games and cold Margaritas.
With the sum
mer sun out, they chose the 600-year-old River Red Gum for their shaded ceremony. This unique location is a favorite for couples looking for a magical outdoor setting nestled within our paddocks.
“My favourite moment of the day was standing under the big tree whilst Jace read his vows. Whilst there were over 100 guests there to support us, in that moment it felt like it was just the two of us and it was so incredibly special.”
Cocktail Hour and Standout Dishes
One of the best parts of a Rocklea wedding is the flexible catering. You aren’t stuck with one specific menu; you have the freedom to choose a caterer that fits your budget and style. Kate and Jace teamed up with Tipsy Colt for both their catering and beverage service. They went with a cocktail-style menu featuring a grazing table and roaming canapés.
The food that really stole the show included:
-
Prosciutto-wrapped prawns (a major standout!).
-
Late-night snacks to keep the party going.
-
A Gluten-Free cake by Oh Em Gee its Gluten Free.
Planning Without the Stress

Even though we are a DIY-friendly venue, we don’t believe you should have to do it all alone. Kate mentioned that the support provided exceeded all expectations and took the s
tress away. Our team—including owners Dave and Glen—works with you to ensure everything runs exactly as you imagined, even handling a 9:30pm power outage in the area with their back up generator so promptly that half the guests didn’t even notice.
On the day, Jacob Heston was behind the lens capturing every moment, including the hilarious rescue mission where Jace and his groomsmen jumped into a paddock to save a sheep stuck in a fence.
Kate’s Words of Wisdom:
Kate’s best advice for anyone currently in the planning trenches is to lean into the experience.
“Don’t get worried about the few rain showers that might fall on the day, or your dress getting dirty. Just have fun and embrace whatever the day throws at you.”
